The control unit collects various types of information about our engine using many different sensors. These can be data such as coolant temperature, air temperature, fuel temperature, fuel and mixture quality, air pressure. During acceleration, the engine will require an increase in the amount of mix. Due to the combustion characteristics of the fuels used, this also requires a change in the ratio of this mixture. When the accelerator pedal is depressed, the throttle flap will open to allow more air into the engine. The increase in airflow to the engine is measured by the airflow sensor, so that the computer can change the amount of fuel injected, maintaining the optimum mix ratio. In the case when we press the accelerator, a rich mixture goes to the engine, but in the event of a malfunction, a poorer mixture can get into the chamber, so we can feel a decrease in power. In addition, the computer also checks the temperature, because you must remember that the temperature may depend on the combustion speed of the mixture, therefore the engine controller will also have to take this factor into account. Once the air supply to the combustion chamber was mechanically regulated, but it was not an ideal solution. Throttles of this type required frequent adjustments. A large number of sensors in the engine compartment means that the control unit collects a lot of information. Thanks to this, it is possible to detect various types of faults such as pressure drop early. It can also happen that the engine computer itself will be damaged, then you need to replace it with the original engine controller, because it will be specially programmed for our car model and engine type.
